RAAM: CREW UPDATE DAY 16
Friday, June 18, 2010 at 06:29AM 15 Jun 10
Day 6 of Tony’s race started off with a few surprises. Early in the morning Colonel Dave Gosselin met up with Tony to cheer him on between Yates Centre and Fort Scott, KS. Colonel Gosselin is a CELE officer in the Canadian Forces and is currently stationed in here in the States. Then, at about 1100h Bill Burke, a former pilot in the American Air Force, met up with Tony and the crew. Bill and Tony met when Tony was stationed in Oklahoma in the early 2000’s. The crew was very fortunate that Bill was able to stay about a day and a half with them. During this time, Jackie and Dan put him to work as a driver for the follow van to replace Kayla who got pink eye (because of a dirty hotel room that she slept at in Greensburg, KS). Finally, Jackie’s Aunt Shirley and Uncle Paul along with their daughter, Mia and her husband Matt met up with Tony and the RV in West Alton, MO. Shirley and Mia had the opportunity to ride in the RV with Jackie to the next time station. It was really nice to be able to share a piece of this experience with a few more people. All these visitors didn’t distract Tony from reaching his goal of obtaining 300 miles a day, but rather, was like a breath of fresh air. We aren’t sure what it is, whether it is the nutrition plan, competitive spirit, mental toughness of Tony or a combination of all three, but Tony is looking his strongest thus far.

Hey, old fart!
I knew you could do it, but placing 4th, considering your age and the level of competition, that is truly impressive and a testament to your great athletic abilities.
Obviously, you could not have done it without the outstanding support of your team, so kudos to Jackie and the gang. I wish I could have been there, but as you know, I'm still training for Afghanistan (just came back from a recce a few days ago).
Although I aged much better and more handsome than you are, you are still my guy, my hero!
Well done again and see you soon safe and sound.
An older fart
